At 27, defenseman Aaron Johnson has been around the block a few times in the NHL. His latest career turn came Tuesday, when he signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Nashville Predators. The accord, the Nashville Tennessean reports, will pay him $550,000 for NHL time and $105,000 for the Predators' AHL Milwaukee affiliate. Get ready for all the hockey your eyeballs can handle on North American television outlets, thanks to release of the 2010-11 NHL television schedule. Regular-season games begin on Oct. 7 live from Helsinki, Finland, and end with the hoisting of the Stanley Cup in mid-June. The largest dose will be on Canadian national TV, including the 58th season of Hockey Night in Canada on CBC. Versus, prime cable home of the NHL in the U.S., will show 78 games, an increase of 13 over last season.

Veteran forward Craig Conroy has re-signed with the Calgary Flames on Wednesday. Conroy received a one-year deal. Conroy has appeared in 991 games -- roughly half of them with the Flames -- over 14 seasons. He has 180 goals and 360 assists for 540 points. Last season, the 38-year-old had three goals and 15 points in 63 games.
